Tetris Kingdom: Leaderboards and Hotkeys !


Hello everyone!

Here is a recap of the last days of work.

LEADERBOARDS:
After several players reached incredible scores, I decided to give higher priority to Leaderboards. The leaderboards are available starting with today's patch (0.1.7), powered by Game Jolt. Just don't forget to set your id at the main menu.


The high scores are visible in the lobby and at the end of each level.


If at some point you need to add a leaderboard and you do not want to annoy your players with login, or you don't have the time or resources for your own backend, I strongly recommend Game Jolt. They provide a powerful API with multiple services (including guest scores), it took less than a day to setup.

HOTKEYS AND OTHER PIECE CHANGES :
I did a quick redesigning of the piece cards, most importantly adding support for hotkeys (something several of you suggested). Now the game is a lot faster, especially in the first few levels. There are other small changes to the piece layout, but it will require some additional work.


VISUAL:
With the help of Camilo, we have been rethinking the pieces. Probably we will go for a higher resolution. For now, we simply removed multiple visual inconsistencies (and added shadows!) to make it more clear when you will score points and why. As a first step into the addition of animated tiles, now towers have wavey flags.


IN-GAME DEVLOG:
(This one is more for me than anything else, but better to have it early)
Starting now, there will be an automatic popup showing the patch history at every update. If you do not care about this, simply uncheck "SHOW DEVLOG ON PATCH". You can see the patch history at any time by clicking on version number at the bottom-right of the screen.


That's it for now! Next week will be about adding a tutorial, as a way of building towards the campaign mode.
